This artwork is not only art but also science. It explores ecosystem processes affected by ocean currents, exposing our neglect and underestimation of our planet. Art and science are two distinct subjects that are often considered opposite concepts. But what if they could be combined to create something that captures the best of both worlds. A remarkable work of art that explores ecosystem processes affected by ocean currents. Not only is it a beautiful piece of art, but Our Planet also conveys the message of our neglect and undervaluation of our planet.

Created in collaboration with Christine Bargast, Guillermo Garcianchez and Evangelos Voucouvalas, the artwork is a remarkable blend of art, mathematical modelling, ocean dynamics and scientific data on environmental conditions. Created through the SciArt project of the EU Science Hub – Joint Research Centre, supported by EU Maritime & Fish, #OurPlanet is currently on display at iMAL. As part of #EUGreenWeek, invite you to discover how you can help make a difference through science and art. #OurPlanet is not just a work of art, it is an inspiration to think about the future of our planet.

Ecosystem Stories:
The artwork tells the story of different ecosystems that have developed under the influence of ocean currents. It shows how streams distribute nutrients, create habitat for animals and maintain the balance of the entire ecosystem.
Human Influence:
Sadly, the artwork also highlights the harmful effects of human activity on the ocean. Factors such as pollution, overfishing and climate change disrupt ocean flow systems and disrupt ecosystem balance.

Combination of Art and Science:
This artwork depicts complex patterns of ocean currents through abstract shapes and colors. It draws visitors to the beauty and complexity of nature and inspires them to respect the ocean. The artists created their work using mathematical modeling and scientific data on ocean movements. This ensures that the artwork is consistent with reality!

The artwork features intricate spiral designs formed by the effects of ocean currents and currents. These designs are based on mathematical models that simulate the movement of seawater. Artists have used colors that reflect changes in ocean depth and temperature.

The artwork is created using a variety of materials, including canvas, paint, recycled plastic and electronic waste.
It is a large-scale installation designed to immerse the viewer in the sea. The artwork has been exhibited in various exhibitions and received critical acclaim.
