Implementation of gender equality policies and budgets in support of the European Union: Ambassador Meyer-Landruth’s participation in international conferences Ambassador Nicolas Meyer-Landruth recently participated in an international conference supported by the European Union (EU) on the implementation of gender-responsive planning and budgeting. This important event highlights the need to include a gender-based perspective in policy-making and budgeting processes to achieve gender equality.

Project Objectives:
The main objective of this project is to contribute to policy-making and budgeting processes related to gender equality. Through this, an important role will be played in the empowerment of women and achieving gender equality in Turkey.

Ambassador Meyer-Landruth’s participation:
Ambassador Meyer-Landruth stressed the importance of implementing gender-responsive planning and budgeting at the conference. She noted that women’s participation at all levels in the policy-making and budgeting process is essential to achieving gender equality. He also noted that through gender-sensitive data collection and analysis, policy-making can be made more effective and sustainable.

Project Impact:
This project is expected to play an important role in achieving gender equality in Turkey. It will include a gender perspective in policy-making and budgeting processes, which will help empower women and improve their quality of life. Under this project, the Turkish government will implement a new strategy to create a gender-responsive budget. Through this strategy, the government will ensure that all budgetary allocations are made with gender-based impact in mind. This, in turn, can increase budgets for important services and programs for women.

Aim of the project:
Ensuring gender equality in policy making and budgeting. Increasing women’s income opportunities.
Further increase the participation of women in the society. Training of policy makers through projects. Increasing employment opportunities for women. More opportunities for women in education and healthcare.
As a functional outcome: increasing gender equality in Turkey. Improved standard of living for women. More girls in school. Good jobs for women. Easier access to healthcare for women.
Further increase women’s participation in society: Initiatives will be taken to increase women’s participation in local government. Women’s leadership in education and healthcare will be enhanced. Actions will be taken to prevent gender-based violence.

In 2023, the EU provided gender awareness training to 100 policy makers in Turkey. In 2024, the EU awarded €1 million in grants to help 50 female entrepreneurs start their businesses. In 2025, the EU will help draft a new law to prevent gender-based violence in Turkey.

This project is expected to play an important role in achieving gender equality in Turkey. It will empower women, improve their quality of life and make Turkish society more equitable and prosperous.
